New classrooms for Mt Albert Grammar School

Wednesday, June 1, 2016

This Government is investing around $153 million in school property across greater Auckland as part of Budget 2016 says Melissa Lee, National List MP based in Mt Albert.

“Here in Mt Albert, I’m happy to say this means 12 new classrooms at Mount Albert Grammar School” said Melissa Lee.

“This new investment follows nearly a quarter of a billion dollars over the past two years to upgrade and grow Auckland schools including investments last year at Balmoral School and Western Springs College as well as the Community Education Hub being developed at Point Chevalier.”

“National is making sure we are getting ahead of future demand and accommodating growth now, rather than leaving it until later.”

“More than a third of New Zealand’s population lives in the Auckland region. So it’s important our schools have the capacity to deal with roll growth and have flexible spaces to support innovative learning environments for students.

“I’m proud to say that National will be delivering more than 17,000 new student places in Auckland by 2019,” Melissa Lee said.
